Grenadine Magazine is an independent arts and fashion magazine based in Charlotte, NC.
As the editorial designer for the inaugural issue of Grenadine Magazine, I developed the visual language for an 86-page fashion and culture publication centered around the theme of the macabre. Working alongside the editorial, photography, and fashion teams, I translated a concept exploring mortality, horror, beauty, and cultural criticism into a cohesive editorial experience.
My responsibilities included designing page layouts, establishing the publication's typographic hierarchy, developing recurring layout systems, and creating visual pacing across long-form essays, fashion editorials, and photo features. Rather than treating each spread as an isolated composition, I focused on building a narrative rhythm that balanced dense editorial content with immersive imagery.
This project required close collaboration with writers, photographers, stylists, and creative directors to ensure every article and photo story felt visually distinct while remaining unified under a single design system. As the first issue of the magazine, the work established the publication's overall aesthetic and editorial voice, creating a foundation for future editions.
